SUMMARY OF 200 PM PDT...2100 UTC...INFORMATION ---------------------------------------------- LOCATION...19.2N 118.0W ABOUT 580 MI...935 KM WSW OF THE SOUTHERN TIP OF BAJA CALIFORNIA MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS...70 MPH...110 KM/H PRESENT MOVEMENT...NW OR 310 DEGREES AT 13 MPH...20 KM/H MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE...988 MB...29.18 INCHES WATCHES AND WARNINGS -------------------- There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect. DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 200 PM PDT (2100 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Iselle was located near latitude 19.2 North, longitude 118.0 West. Iselle is moving toward the northwest near 13 mph (20 km/h), and this motion is expected to continue through tonight, followed by a turn toward the west-northwest on Tuesday. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 70 mph (110 km/h) with higher gusts. Additional strengthening is likely through this evening, and Iselle could becoming a hurricane during that time. Gradual weakening is then forecast starting later on Tuesday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 195 miles (315 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 988 mb (29.18 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- SURF: Swells generated by Iselle are affecting the west coast of the Baja California Peninsula, and will continue for a couple more days. These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions. Please consult products from your local weather office.
